A few days ago I had the chance to stop by my favorite museum, the Museum of Art and Design, truly a New York design gem. The reason… for an exhibit about an unlikely, overlooked and under appreciated art medium…
DIRT
We live with it, battle it, are disgusted by it, remove it and encounter it everyday. The one thing we don’t do is admire and and examine it as an art form and an object worthy or praise. I loved this exhibit, slow to start but as you delve deep and look closely you’ll develop a new appreciation for dirt, dust and of all things, dryer lint.
Swept Away: Dust, Ashes and Dirt in Contemporary Art and Design runs through August 12, 2012, at the Museum of Contemporary Arts and Design.
